Bloodborne Pathogens
Target Audience: Includes any UNM employee who may have occupational exposure to blood, blood products or body fluids. Occupational exposure is defined at UNM as potential exposure at least once per month. This module focuses on a health care audience. However, other groups could also use this module, such as law enforcement, food service, custodial and possibly childcare or some research areas.
Purpose: Serve as an annual refresher for those persons taking Bloodborne Pathogens training every year to fulfill their annual OSHA requirement.
Content: Contains information on means of transmission, signs and symptoms of hepatitis C and B and HIV, preventive measures, housekeeping, emergency procedures and the 2000 OSHA Needlestick Law.
Notice: University Hospital physicians, nursing students and all UNM Health Science Center Employees, must take this training through Learning Central.
