Infectious Waste
Target Audience: Designed primarily for persons who handle infectious waste in a research laboratory setting. However, other groups may also benefit from this module, such as grounds and landscaping and custodial.
Purpose: Provides information about how to safely handle infectious waste. It is required for any person working with infectious waste. It is also required prior to approval of any research protocol submitted to the UNM Biosafety Committee.
Content: This package is very similar to Bloodborne pathogens. It is different from Bloodborne in that it does not target a healthcare audience and does not cover HIV or Hepatitis B and C in the same detail. It focus more on identifying infectious waste and outlining specific handling procedures to include storage and disposal and providing emergency procedures.
